Maybe it's just because I'm an artist that the flaws stood out to me, but I can totally see someone being bothered enough by the game's graphics to not enjoy looking at it. That's not a matter of "oh you don't appreciate NES graphics," most NES games had higher-quality player sprites than that. They look like a poor attempt at spriting messy hair. Their hair is random shapes and bits, but not in a way that looks intentional. Also, the shape of their head is just.wonky. But their neck is still centered by pixels instead of being centered where it should be. Like, one of Frisk's legs is thicker than the other. I can't name a lot of specific examples off the top of my head, but I know when I was playing I had a constant problem of noticing the weird artistic flaws.
